Functional wellness coaching is a collaborative educational process focused on goals, habits, lifestyle awareness, accountability, and client-directed action. “Functional,” “root cause,” “personalized,” and similar terms describe an educational framework; they do not mean the Coach practices medicine or guarantees identification or correction of a disease cause.

SCOPE BOUNDARY: The Coach is a Registered Nurse, not a physician, nurse practitioner, dietitian, pharmacist, psychotherapist, or emergency provider. A functional-medicine certification is an educational credential and does not expand legal nursing scope, create prescriptive authority, or confer physician status.

 

• The Coach does not diagnose disease, issue medical orders, prescribe or discontinue medication, represent supplement suggestions as treatment, or replace a physician or other licensed treating professional.

• A nursing assessment or nursing diagnosis, if lawfully provided and documented as such, is distinct from a medical diagnosis.

• Lab education addresses patterns and questions for discussion with a treating clinician; it is not a medical interpretation or diagnosis unless separately authorized by law and written scope.

• The client remains responsible for decisions, disclosure to treating clinicians, and obtaining appropriate medical care.
